Inkscape is the best in my opinion and probably always will be. VERDICT: Inkscape is a full-featured, completely free alternative to Adobe Illustrator. So if you want a FREE, extremely powerful SVG graphics editor, you need look no further. Currently tested with Cricut Cake running firmware v2.35, running on Ubuntu 9. It is a learning curve to be able to use it but well worth the effort after you do. licut is a lightweight suite of software tools for sending Inkscape SVG files to a Cricut cutting device. Believe me, the "what you can do list" is far too numerous to type here, you simply have to read some tutorials and try it. png with Inkscape, has 3-d box creation among MANY MANY other options and effects, even text. Inkscape is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. However, if you want the other format, you can definitely import and export. I believe Photoshop has this ability but I don't use it, can't afford it so Inkscape is part of my main graphics collection of Blender, Gimp and Inkscape, pretty much accomplish anything that needs to be done and all free.
